What it is: Sciton’s Moxi and Lutronic’s Lase MD lasers are similar technologies made from different companies. They are non-ablative (does not remove skin), fractionated lasers that improve superficial skin texture problems and tone of the skin.

Who it’s for: Great for prevention and maintenance of skin. People who want smoother skin texture and a more even tone. Corrects sun damage and pigmentation. This is the only laser that is safe to treat melasma.

Where it’s used: Face, neck, chest

How often: Depending on the individual’s needs, typically 3-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

What to expect: Topical numbing is applied for 30 mins prior to treatment, the procedure can take 20-45 mins depending on how many areas are being treated. After the laser, you will experience some redness and heat sensation similar to a mild sunburn for the first 1-2 days, followed by a mild darkening of the skin, similar to suntan for 3-5 days. Texture on skin will have a sand paper feel for 4-5 days that is easily covered with makeup. Noticeable results in 4-5 days with optimal results after the full series.

What should I expect after my MOXI treatement?

Results will vary depending on your treatment goals and the plan you set forth with your provider. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will be pink and feel tingly (like from a sunburn). For the day following your treatment, you may see the small micro dots called “mendz” where the laser was applied. As the micro zones heal, they will darken and feel rough. Between days 3 and 5, the mendz will slough off, revealing the renewed skin beneath.
